A Metal Stickem™ is a thin metal disc — brass, aluminum, or steel depending on the format — with a pressure-sensitive adhesive liner on the back. Unlike paper or vinyl decals, the metal construction gives the emblem real weight and a raised, tactile surface. The adhesive used is industrial-grade, designed for a permanent bond on most smooth, non-porous surfaces.

Step 1: Choose the Right Surface

Step 2: Clean the Surface Thoroughly

Use a clean cloth or cotton ball dampened with isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher) and wipe down the exact spot where you plan to apply the emblem. This removes skin oils, residue from packaging, dust, and any wax or silicone coating that might be on the surface.
Let the area dry completely before moving to the next step. Even 30 seconds of air drying is enough — you just don't want any residual moisture under the emblem.
Pro tip from our manufacturing team: If you're applying to a newly painted surface, wait at least 24–48 hours after painting before applying. Fresh paint contains solvents that can compromise the adhesive bond.
Step 3: Plan Your Placement Before You Peel
Once you peel the liner off a Metal Stickem™, the clock is running. The exposed adhesive will begin to pick up microscopic dust and lose a small amount of tack the longer it sits unattached.
Before removing the liner, hold the emblem over the surface and decide exactly where it should land. Consider:
- Centering — is it going in the middle of a panel, aligned to an edge, or centered on a specific design element?

Step 4: Peel and Apply
Now peel the protective liner cleanly from the back of the emblem. Some Metal Stickems™ have a paper liner; others use a clear film. Either way, peel slowly from one edge to avoid touching the adhesive surface with your fingers.
Position the emblem over your target spot and lower it into place. Set the center down first, then press outward to the edges — this prevents any air from getting trapped underneath.
Once positioned, apply firm, even pressure across the entire emblem for at least 30 seconds. Use your thumb to press firmly from the center outward, or use a flat object like a credit card wrapped in a cloth to apply consistent pressure. The goal is full contact across the entire adhesive surface — not just the middle.
Step 5: Allow the Bond to Cure
The adhesive reaches its maximum holding strength after 24–72 hours of curing at room temperature. During this window, try to avoid:
- Submerging the emblem in water
- Exposing it to extreme heat or direct sunlight for prolonged periods
- Flexing or stressing the surface the emblem is on

Troubleshooting: What to Do If an Edge Starts to Lift
If you notice a small edge lifting within the first few hours of application, it usually means either the surface wasn't fully clean, or there's a texture or edge preventing full contact. Here's how to fix it:
- Press the edge back down firmly and hold for 60 seconds.
- If it lifts again, clean the area around the edge with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.
- Apply a tiny dot of cyanoacrylate (super glue) under the lifted edge, press firmly, and wipe away any excess immediately.
If the emblem lifts entirely, remove it cleanly, clean both the emblem back and the surface thoroughly with alcohol, and reapply. The adhesive on Metal Stickems™ is designed for permanent bonding, so a clean surface the second time almost always results in a strong hold.
